Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born on 1 June 1974. Her birthplace was Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek name is a feminine version of her father's surname, Alan. Georgia is the name used by her mother, and she has two brothers named Chad along with Wade. She learned to play piano when she was just 6 and the guitar when she was 21. Alanis released a single in 1986 that was titled Fate Stay With My (b side: Find The Right Man). Her albums were recorded as a dance-pop performer from Canada: Alanis (1991) and Now Is The Time (1992). She moved to Toronto when she turned 18 and began working with musicians and writers, but these partnerships didn't pan out. In 1994, she finally came across the perfect collaborator: the producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had previously worked with a variety of artists including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. Then she moved to LA aged 19. In June of 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released on Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis was able to come up with the idea of writing songs that was intimate and personal. JLP was sold to around 30 million copies around the world and is the most-sold female-oriented album ever. The album is also the third most popular album of all time. The album was a struggle for her emotionally (when she considered having another album recorded) and a trip to India Alanis Alanis Alanis
