Kristen Anne Bell was born in 1980 and is an American actress and singer. She is a Michigan native born and fostered by her parents, Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) as well as Tom Bell (a TV news director). She has Polish (mother's) as well as German (father's), English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Kristen found her talent in entertainment at an early stage of her life. She was just 12 when she appeared at her first audition, and was able to win an appearance in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell's mom introduced her to an agent when she was 13, and she was cast for television and newspaper commercials. Additionally, she began to take acting lessons privately. Bell played a brief, uncredited role as a character in Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell was a student at Shrine Catholic High School where she took part in musical and drama club. Bell was cast as Dorothy in the school production of The Wizard of Oz. Bell went to New York City for the Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theatre upon the completion of her studies. Bell left her college in 2001 after she was cast in the role Becky in the film Tom Sawyer. That same year, she had her first credit debut in Pootie Tang (2001), however, her performance was cut and her appearance exists only in the credit sequence. Bell made her debut in 2002. Bell made an appearance on her first Broadway version of The Crucible with Liam Neeson as well as Angela Bettis.
