Her versatility and range as a performer is second to none. Audra has received seven Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award. Audra McDonald, who won the prestigious six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was listed as one of the Times magazine's 100 most influential people. The president Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -- America's highest honour for achievements in this field. A stunning singer, with an unparalleled talent for dramatic truth telling, Ms. O'Connor is at ease in Broadway as well as the stage for opera as well as on the world of television. Apart from her theater work, she has been a busy recording and concert artist. She regularly performs in the best venues of the world. McDonald, who was born in Fresno California to a music family, received the classical vocal training she received at the New York's Juilliard School. Her initial Tony Award in 1994 for the Best Performance of a Featured actress in a musical, Carousel which was staged at Lincoln Center Theater. After four more years of performing in Broadway's premieres, Master Class by Terrence M. McNally (1996) as well as Ragtime (1998), she earned two additional Tony Awards. The year 2004, she received her fourth Tony for her role on stage in A Raisin in the Sun alongside Sean Diddy Combs. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance as Emma Thompson on Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to network television came in 2003 as she appeared alongside Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. Then, in the year 2006, McDonald joined the WB's The Bedford Diaries. The next year she was an actor in NBC's Kidnapped. McDonald was awarded a fourth Emmy for her portrayal of Lady Day in Emerson's Bar & Grill on HBO in the year 2016. The Bite was a six episode drama about pandemics produced through Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. The actress first appeared in the role of U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's medical drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald reprised her character (now called Liz Reddick) as a season regular of The Good Fight on Paramount+ with three Critics Choice Award nominations for her performance. The actress is currently a guest on Julian Fellowes's historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
